The City of Satanta contracts with a waste management service to provide waste removal to all citizens of Satanta, Kansas. The City is responsible for billing and record keeping of the trash service to each business and residence in Satanta, Kansas. The City then pays a set amount to the waste management provider each year. Due to the costs and time associated with the record keeping involved, the City herein establishes an administrative fee in order to offset the costs associated with the same.

The City of Satanta hereby sets a fee on each residence and business to be known as a waste management administration fee of $2.50. This fee will be included on the monthly water, sewer, and trash fee and collected monthly.

The City of Satanta, in providing the services of collection and disposal of residential solid waste by contracting with a private entity for the City’s residential trash collection services, shall collect service charges or fees to defray the cost of said contract. Such service charges or fees shall be as follows:

(a)   Residential Solid Waste Collection Fee shall be billed on a monthly basis and be part of the resident’s water bill for that billing period. The current trash rate has been previously set at $9.47 per month. Effective September of 2022 the cost shall be $10.88 per month.

(b)   This fee shall apply to every residence including, but not limited to, houses, mobile homes, each apartment in an apartment complex, and each living unit of a duplex.

(c)   Churches or other nonprofit entities may elect to be included in this service and its fees by making a request to the City Clerk.

The administrative fee as set forth in section 15-402 in the amount of $2.50 shall remain in full force and effect.
